There are seven I think and they are sometimes hard to find. You can remove the transfer bar but you will have to pick up the parts that are necessary to convert it back. Also from what I can tell those grips look original. If it is marked 'R' and you do not have the original parts then that will diminish collector value or so I have been told. Usually when Ruger handled a conversion they marked the grip frame 'R' but sometimes they did not. Mine look a lot worse The fact that it has already had the transfer bar conversion does change collector value unless you have the original parts that were removed. Then again it doesn't look that bad as it is.

If you look on your cylinder you should see the last 3 digits of your s/n either stamped (22LR) or etched (22 WMR) however yours could be stamped even if it is the magnum cylinder. That was about 1963 so yours would probably be somewhere in 1964 or 65 (just a guess).

When it was discontinued, serial numbers were at approximately 340,000 and those numbers were transferred over to the standard SS. Serial numbers in the 300,000 range had been reserved for the Magnum model of the SS. Also, Ruger did not always keep their serial numbers in order. Munnell, no 6.5" non-convertible single six was ever cataloged so it stands to reason that yours was sold as a convertible. This holster fits my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter 44 Magnum like a glove. However I can tell you that any standard SS with a s/n over 150,000 was bored correctly to be a convertible (i.e. Unfortunately I don't know the story behind the missing serial numbers.

Ruger doesn't list serial#'s or years in between. When looking it up on ruger website, my number falls in between 19. Was thinking of touching up the worn bluing and possibly sanding out the dings and scratches on the grip frame, then polishing it. And the grip frame is dinged up and scratches where someone was careless with screwdriver removing screws.ġ. Condition is fair, the bluing is worn along left side of barrel.
